Discover the colourful art of Batik in this hands-on creative workshop for children aged 3+ and their families.
Batik is a centuries-old textile art form that uses wax and vibrant dyes to create beautiful patterns on fabric. During this workshop, children will explore natural motifs such as leaves, flowers, animals and simple shapes while creating their own unique batik artwork on pre-waxed fabric.
Children are welcome to attend independently, or families can choose a special parent-child Batik experience. Parents who join will create their own batik piece alongside their child while learning about this traditional artistic practice in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
The workshop will be led by Hazura Isily, a batik artist trained by master artisans in Malaysia and Indonesia. Based in Zurich, Hazura shares the rich cultural heritage of Batik through workshops, educational programmes and creative experiences for children and adults. Her approach encourages creativity, sensory exploration, fine motor development and cultural appreciation through hands-on making.
Whether you are discovering Batik for the first time or simply looking for a meaningful creative activity to enjoy together, this workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to explore colour, pattern and artistic expression.
Places are limited. We look forward to welcoming you for a morning of creativity, colour and cultural discovery.
